Not another Fad Diet
We have all been there and have done the latest a best new fad diets. We lose and then fast forwards 6 months and we gain again and we continue on this viscous cycle.
My name is Sharron and I have, like many others, been on a dozen or two diets. I have spent thousands of dollars on diets that, at the time worked, but once I was off the diet "product" or the regimen, I gained about half if not all the weight back.
I have been dealing with this for about 15 years and you know what? I'm done. I have decided that 2019 is the year I am not going to go out and do a "diet". Instead I am going to challenge myself and do what I know and what I am educated about in the nutrition world.
You see, I have been on almost every diet out there. You name it, no carb, low carb, no sugar, weight watchers, Jenny Craig, HCG, the cabbage soup diet, the nutrisystem, you name it I have done it or one very similar. They are pretty much all the same. Take this, don't eat this, don't eat that... etc etc. The problem here for me is every time I have done one, I know deep down it is wrong. I have studied nutrition, I have followed nutritionists, I have met with medical professionals and they all say the same thing. And guess what? It is not don't eat this, don't eat that, take this supplement. It was just eat in moderation and chose the right foods from the food groups. Yeah we have all heard this, but what this means is to eat good portions. All the studies show that you should not take anything out of your diet all the way unless you want to keep it out forever. Your body goes into shock when you take a food group all the way out and then back into shock when you begin to have it again after a substantial amount of time. That does not sound great to me. Yes, of course you want to lower some things depending on how you eat normally. Like for me, what I think would work is to eat lower amounts of processed carbs instead of taking them out all together. When I have done this in the past I have kept my weight off, but when I remove all breads, pastas etc, I gain it all back when I introduce it back in. I am not saying in any way that this is the way everyone is, just from my experience and as well as watching others around me too.
So in all that, I am determined to go on a journey this year to lose weight and not follow a "diet" that some person put together.

- I am not going to give up my favorite things and I am not going to give up bread.
- I am going to increase my water, but not all at once. I will start with 24 ounces a day for week one and week 2 I will increase it by 12 ounces and continue to every week until I it 100 ounces a day.
- I am going to log and take pictures of my food and I am going to keep my food to good healthy portions. For me this means eating more than normal. I, like many other overweight people are actually overweight because they are not eating enough.
- I plan to enjoy a treat every now and again, because honestly I don't feel being depressed because that causes weight gain too.
- I will exercise a few times a week. I don't think this is absolutely necessary to lose, I just know my body gets sore and more aches when I don't exercise. Plus it helps my heart health.
- I will blog about my journey weekly. So keep coming back to see my journey and if it is working or not.
- I am in no way giving up my coffee. haha
- and most importantly I am going to keep the spiritual side of me healthy as well.
My goal is to lose 30 pounds by summer time and I think I can do it. I know I am educated enough on diets and the do's and don't.
So please join in and encourage me on this journey. I am doing this for me and no-one else. I am not saying that all these fad diets don't work, I am just saying I am tired of spending my money on programs that are all the same and all have the same result and then after I am off I gain again. This is a lifestyle change my way.
I am logging my Journey for me to look back on and see the progress I made, and if in turn I can encourage someone else who like me has struggled and has gone through so many diets then that would be awesome.
~Stay awesome and always be yourself. ~SW
You go girl! Love the excitement and the approach you are taking!
